The second annual King´s College Murcia Christmas Fayre opened at 2.30pm on Friday 16th December with expectations very high. It did not disappoint as children competed to do the activities first, whether it was jostling for the vast bouncy slide and castle, jumping up and down on the trampoline or trying to beat the school keeper, Jack Ruddy. It was well planned that there were some strenuous actvities avaiable because the opportunities to consume sugary foodstuffs were, uncharacteristically for our health conscious school, in open abundance. Cakes, minced pies, cookies, sweets, chocolate and very sweet mulled wine (the latter for the parents only of course) were just some of the goodies on show. There were Christmas treats, Spanish foods and Turkish delights. Fortunately some of the parents and teachers had an opportunity to run off the excess in a staff versus parents football match at 5pm that day. The highlight for most of the children though was the visit of Santa and the outsanding Santa´s grotto that he was able to sepnd two rather hectic hours in on a Friday afternoon prior to Christmas!

It was a fantastic event enjoyed by all and many parents, children and teachers remained behind afterwards to watch the football. I am pleased to report that honours were even at the end with hestaff beating one parent team 1-0 and losing to the other parent team by the same scoreline. Most importantly, the school raised over €1000 for charity. Coupled with the money raised in Cartagena and Murcia by the School Choir, the total raised came to €1,632.
A huge thank you to all those parents, staff and pupils for contributing to the event and especially Mrs Wood who was the principal organiser, but thank you to all of you for your very generous donations indeed.
