Dear Parents,

It was great to welcome all your children back for the beginning of term.  We enter the term in what I know is still the middle of a holiday week for Murcia at least, but we will be straight down to hard work, not least because this is our examination term when Year 2 and above will sit formal examinations (in some cases public examinations).

ROYAL WEDDING ON FRIDAY 29TH APRIL (NON-UNIFORM DAY)

While the UK is having a bank holiday, we will be at work as normal, but we will be recognizing what is an important event for us as a British School in Spain.  The Early Years and Key Stage 1 are invited to dress up as princes and princesses.  They will be having a special lunch together and watching some of the Royal Wedding.  For Primary and Secondary children Periods 1 and 2 will be as normal, with all students having the chance to watch the festivities from 11.15am.  Both Key Stage 2 and Secondary will have an early lunch and then at 2pm the excellent Queen tribute band, Chess, will be playing in the Dining Hall.  Soft drinks will be available for children and wine or beer will be available for parents, all at a cost of 1 Euro per drink.  Key Stage 2 and Secondary children are encouraged to dress up in a combination of the colours red, white and blue.  All those dressing up/not wearing uniform should bring a donation for charity (1 Euro is recommended). Parents are, of course, welcome to attend on Friday from 2pm.  Once again, however, if your child usually travels by bus and you are picking them up then do inform Carlos Campos.

I will be writing to you once again on Friday about some important forthcoming matters, not least our first Speech Day/Prize Giving.

Best wishes

Robin Silk
