LEMONS DENY OLIVES FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL DOUBLE TRIUMPH WITH DOMINGO CLAIMING LAST GASP WINNER!

What a great start to the Inter-house competition here at Kings. After a successful Football competition, the Basketball inter-house competition was equally as competitive. After a very tight group stage it went down to the final game to see who proceeded to the final. Lemons had already made it through with some excellent performances and it was down to Figs against Oranges in the final game. Figs needed to score more than 8 points to beat Olives to the final spot. The game was easily won by Figs but unfortunately only by 8 points so we had a tie. Olives and Figs would face a sudden-death shoot out to see who progressed to the final. After 3 attempts each, Roman shot the decisive basket, which kept Olives on course for a tremendous double, following their Football success.
The final was closely fought out with the game going back and forth in different directions. Lemons, led by their inspirational captain and Cartegana Basketball player Samantha Klein Reches, were fantastic with excellent performances from the rest of the squad, including Kerrigan Coleman and Domingo Ruiz Martinez. It was Domingo who was to settle the game in the final 30 seconds. With the game level at 8 points each and destined for extra time, Domingo picked up the ball and evaded the crowd and put the Lemons ahead once again. Lemons were able to hold out for the remaining 30 seconds and claim an excellent victory over Olives who were looking for their second inter-house sporting success of the term.
Well Done Lemons!
Olives off to a perfect start in football

What a fantastic round of Football matches to begin our inter-house competition for the new academic year. With all houses fully committed to achieving the best result possible and all members of the house being involved in some capacity,it was a hard fought competition with Orange House just missing out on their place in the final to Fig. Fig contested the final and looked favourites to win the competition when they went ahead early in the first half. A resilient fight back by Olive was required and they achieved this through an excellent goal by Luca Hahn. There was then a period of missed chances by both teams before Olives went ahead for the first time in the game through another great strike by Luca. Figs then put Olives under pressure to find an equalizer but found Olive goalkeeper Mako Uno in great form, making a couple of excellent saves to deny them, especially a fine strike by Matthew Marsden that was heading for the top corner; Mako tipping over the bar. There was a nervy end to the game but Olive pulled through to claim a superb victory with a 2-1 win.
Well done Olive House.
