From the Head

6th October 2011

Dear Parents,

What a superb day we had last week at the International day.  It was great to see so many of you there and thank you especially to those parents who helped out by providing food or decorating stalls.  Importantly, we raised more than €900 for the Vincente Ferrer charity.  You can see an about the event on the website at http://www.kcmurcia.es/en/noticias/international-day-2011

Some news and reminders:

FIESTA DAYS

A reminder that this Friday, 7th October and next Wednesday 12th October are days off for the school.  The School will be closed on both days.  I hope they are enjoyable for you all, especially the long weekend.

HOUSES AND HOUSE T-SHIRTS

This week the children, with some direction, chose the names of their houses.  We picked the four most popular, sensible names, with the idea being that two houses would be named after famous historical figures from Spain and two from the UK.  There were lots of good ideas and some less good, but we have decided on the following four names:

Cervantes (Green)

Churchill (Yellow)

Gaudi (Blue)

Newton (Red)

All the pupils have now been housed, with siblings put together in the same house.  I would ask that all parents of children in Key Stage 2 and/or Secondary purchase from the School Shop the correct house shirt for their child/children, before 17th October when Inter-House Competition begins.  For Years 1 and 2 purchase of the House Shirt is optional.

BOOK FAYRE

We have had to move the Book Fayre day from this coming Thursday to the following Tuesday, when your children will be able to look at the books on offer and purchase some if they wish.

NEW TEACHER

I am delighted to welcome Linda Hurl as teacher of Reception Red.  A reminder to Reception Red parents that there is a meeting with me and her in the classroom next Tuesday at 4.30pm.

Best wishes
