Dear Parents,

We have had a huge number of positive comments from parents and children about both the London Trip and the Blog that kept us in touch with the goings on.  I would like to add my thanks to the staff who accompanied the trip- Mrs Toomey, Mr Clarke, Mrs Dearing and, most especially, Mrs Shreeve.  Most of all, though, I would like to add how proud I am of the children for their outstanding behaviour while on the trip; many observers commented positively on the good manners of the children.

Next week the Secondary pupils are off to Paris and I hope they have a superb time but also, following on from the example set by the Primary children, remember their behaviour and manners; there will be an alternative programme for the few Year 7 to 10 pupils that are left behind.

PARENT/STAFF CHARITY QUIZ- THURSDAY 24TH MARCH, 6.30PM

You may have seen in the calendar the date of Thursday 24th March as a date for the parent/staff quiz.  The idea of this is to have some fun, do something to build our community and also make money for charity.  Beer, wine, soft drinks and light snacks will be available and served by some of the Secondary students.  The Quiz will start at 6.30pm and will finish by approximately 8.30pm and take place in the main school Dining Hall.  There will be two staff teams and we hope to have a number of parent teams.  I stress some key points below:

  1. Teams should be a maximum of 8.
  2. Miss Raquel Carceles will be asking the questions in both Spanish and English.
  3. The questions will be on a mixture of Spanish, British and international topics.
  4. There will be a raffle on the night.
  5. If childcare is a problem we are prepared to arrange a Creché for the evening at a small cost to parents.
  6. Entry fee is €10 per participant, and this will include the cost of drinks and light snacks.
  7. There will be prizes for the winning team members.

If you are interested in getting involved/forming a team then please return the form below to Mr Carlos Campos at the Reception- the fee for your team can be paid on the night.  I would also appeal to parents for anything they can offer as raffle prizes; in this instance, again contact Carlos with details.

USE OF IPODS, MP3/4 PLAYERS AND MOBILE PHONES IN SCHOOL

I have been disappointed with the recent usage of these in school.  I have spoken to all children from Year 6 upwards (but this also applies to children from Years 3 to 5) and stressed that under normal circumstances these were not to be brought into school at all.  I do recognize, however, that many children use these on the long bus rides to and from school.  This is acceptable, but once in school these should not be used.  I want to see children communicating and helping build the community, not locked in their own little world just listening to music!

HEAD´S ABSENCE

I will be absent in the UK attending a course and also interviewing for new staff between 9th and 15th March.  During this time Mrs Loren Dearing will be deputizing for me, but I can still be contacted at any time by phone or email.

Have a great couple of weeks.

Best wishes
