From the Head
3rd February 2012
Dear Parents,
The weather has certainly turned for the worse during the week: for one week only a British education and British weather! I urge you all to wrap up warm this weekend. I outline a few issues below.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
So far we have only had interest from one other parent to take part in the Fundraising Committee. I encourage parents to get involved, but in the meantime please take the time to fill in the questionnaire that you will receive by hand today in your child´s book bag.
RETURNING READING BOOKS
An appeal once again to all parents to return all reading/library books they find at home. We devote huge expenditure to this every year and it would be massively reduced if all books taken home were returned.
TOOTH-BRUSHES AND PASTE
A reminder that all Early Years and all Key Stage 1 children must have a toothbrush and toothpaste in school so they can brush their teeth after meal times.
FORTHCOMING PARENT/TEACHER MEETINGS
I urge all parents to take advantage of the parent/teacher meetings in the coming weeks. You should have all received communication by email in regards to these meetings.
COATS/ANORAKS/JACKETS AND BAGS
The school shop will shortly stock warm jackets with the school logo on. These are well-priced and of an excellent quality (we have a new supplier!) I have become alarmed with the vast array of different colours of jacket/hoody etc that children have been wearing, especially from the Secondary School. It is clear in our uniform regulations that jackets or overcoats should be of a dark/navy blue colour. From Monday 13th February any child who does not come in either the regulation school coat or a dark blue coat will be asked to remove their jacket. This is essential to smarten up the children. In addition, a reminder that the school rucksack/book bag will be the only bag allowed by September 2012. All this is in the spirit of smartening up the children and enhancing our school identity.
VALENTINE´S DISCO
Next Friday it is the St. Valentine´s Disco for all Year 3 to 7. I hope a number of children can attend and it is an enjoyable occasion.
RE-ENROLMENT FORMS
I kindly remind you that we are still awaiting the return of many of the re-enrolment forms which will facilitate our planning for the 2012-2013 school year.
A good weekend to you all and do wrap up warmly!
Best wishes
Robin Silk
