Dear Parents,

THE SCHOOL ONLINE

There have been some exciting additions to our school profile this week: not only will I be able to point you to the Youtube link for our school trailer and DVD early next week, but I am also delighted that we have both a link to the world renowned Anglo-info website

http://costacalida.angloinfo.com/af/250/costa-calida-schools-and-international-schooling.html

and a new website up and running at

http://www.kcmurcia.es/

Please do have a look at these sites.  There are still a few glitches in the website, but it is a vast improvement on past efforts and will be updated weekly with pictures and events.  Thank you to the staff and, in some cases, children for putting this together.  You will see both a student link to ´Moodle´ and a Parent link to ´Classic´ on the front page of the website.  There is little to see on these yet, but by January you will start seeing that these sites become fully interactive- with the school moving to fully online reports and a proper VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) and all of you, both parents and students, will have a log-in password for these.  In the meantime can you make absolutely sure that Carlos Campos has your latest email addresses; a number of our email/address details are now out of date because parents have not contacted us with updates!

CHRISTMAS SHOW

The Infant School Christmas Show will be performed twice at 3pm on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th December.  Parents are restricted to a maximum of two tickets each.  If you want tickets then please do fill in the form below.

FOOTBALL TOURNAMENTS

On Tuesday 14th October we will have three visiting schools taking part in an U.11 Football Tournament (our first inter-school fixtures).  This will be followed by an U.9 Tournament on Thursday 16th October.  The tournaments will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm and parents are welcome to attend in support.

PRIMARY INTER-HOUSE FOOTBALL

Our vibrant inter-house competition continues apace, with trophies awarded at the end of each one.  The Primary Inter-House Football is now underway.  The final will be played at 3.30pm on Friday 10th December.  Parents are welcome to come along and support.

REPTON´S GOT TALENT

Auditions are underway for this talent show, with the actual event taking place at 3.15pm on Friday 17th December; I am sure it will be a great event.  Parents will get an invite in due course.

SELF-EVALUATION

Thank you for your contributions to the school self-evaluation.  I am pleased to see that the vast majority of parents are so positive for the school.  We are though analysing the responses carefully and will use them as a means to move the school forward.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE

A reminder that the Christmas Fayre starts at 2.30pm on Monday 20th December.  If anyone still wants to run a stall on the day then this is the last chance to get in contact with Carlos Campos.  Currently we have stalls ranging from homemade cards, to mulled wine and minced pies to chocolate, cakes, recipe books, necklaces and bracelets.  There will also be a bouncy castle and one or two other attractions.

SECONDARY TRIP TO PARIS

It is great that so many of you have shown an interest in the Key Stage 2 trip to London.  I am pleased to announce that we will be running a trip for those in Years 6 to 10 to Paris from 8th to 12th March.  You will be receiving a letter from Mr Alan Boyes, the Head of Secondary.

STAFF, NEW AND DEPARTING

A warm welcome to Jon Martin who takes over Judi Pollock´s teaching in Year 2 Red!  Jon joins us from Glasgow, where he received excellent recommendations as a young teacher.  In welcoming Jon, I would like to wholeheartedly thank Judi for all her hard work and good guidance in her three plus years at the school.  She is one of the last couple of staff who was here for the opening of the school.  We wish her well for her exciting new project in Malaysia.  Judi will certainly be missed, but her leadership duties will be shared between Loren Dearing, who assumes overall responsibility for all Years 1 to 5 and Maree Wood who takes on the role of Head of Early Years.  Congratulations to them both.

SECURITY BADGES

Henceforward all staff working at King´s College will be required to wear identification badges.  This is both to help you identify staff and to improve security and allow us all to challenge anyone we do not recognise.  A reminder that anyone, even parents, who want to go beyond the reception into the school should sign in and wear a visitor´s badge.

HEAD´S ABSENCE

As I stated last week I will be away at the end of this week, but will also be away from school next Thursday and Friday 2nd and 3rd December.  Alan Boyes This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it will be deputising for me at this time.

After that we go into a short break which I am sure will be welcomed by all, especially with staff in full flow writing reports.  Reports will be available for collection on the final day of term, with follow up parents says in January and February.

Best wishes
Robin Silk
