Dear Parents,

After the excitement of the school football tournaments last week and with most of the Years 3 to 5 being away this week in London, the school seems rather quiet.  I hope those parents with sons or daughters in London are enjoying the Trip Blog going up each evening.  Here school proceeds apace with a number of prospective teachers visiting the school, as they are on their half-term break.  The Secondary School have started the latest Inter-House event- the Inter-House Scrabble no less!

FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT- Thursday 3rd March

Next Thursday a number of pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9 will be playing football in a tournament at King´s College, The British School of Alicante.  The coach for this will leave at 9.30 and returns by 4pm in time for the buses.  Further details will be sent out by Mr Whitaker in due course.

CARNIVAL CELEBRATION- Friday 4th March

While there is no rest at King´s College and we do not have the luxury of a day off for Carnival, we are going to have our own mini celebration in School on Friday 4th March (not as published- 7th March).  The idea is to have an enjoyable afternoon and also raise funds for the Vicente Ferrer Children´s Charity.    Children in the Early Years and Primary are encouraged to come in dressed up as animals, but it will be a non-uniform day for all children.  Students should bring in a donation for charity (recommended €1, but at individual´s discretion).  A series of activities will be available at a cost of 50 cents per activity, which again will go to the chosen charity.  These include:

  • Bouncy Castle
  • Human Hamster Ball
  • Animal Mask making
  • Popcorn Stall
  • Face Painting
  • Pin the Tail on the Donkey
  • Guess the Jelly Beans in the Jar

The activities will take place between 2.30 and 4.30pm and all parents are welcome to join the occasion.  Parents of younger children, at least up to Reception should come along to accompany their children during the activities.  In this instance you will be welcome, on consultation with your child´s class teacher, to take your child home any time after 2.30pm.

OPEN DAY- Thursday 17th March

I have had to move the termly Open Day for prospective parents, and it will now take place on Thursday 17th March.  It will begin at 10am with a talk by the Head.  I would ask all current parents to encourage friends and acquaintances, who have children and may be interested, to come along.

REMINDERS

Email Addresses- If you have not updated your email addresses with Christine Whitehead or Carlos Campos recently, it is essential you do this.  Failure to do this will mean currently you will not be able to access ClassIS and your children´s homework information at the moment.  In due course it will be more serious because you will not be able to access either your child´s reports or letters that go out from the school because these will all, in the not too distant future, be sent electronically.

Re-enrolment forms- Thank you to those who have returned their re-enrolment forms.  There are still many to come in.  I would really appreciate these being returned so we can get on with planning our teacher recruitment and timetabling for next year.

Lastly, at the end of next week, you can look forward to the publication of our second Newsletter.

Best wishes

Robin Silk
