Dear Parents,

This is the first letter that will be on the website only and I repeat that if you cannot, for some reason, access the internet to read my letters then do request a copy from Carlos at the Reception.  A reminder that you will also find the end of year reports on the website only.

The good news is the school pushes on apace, with the Uniform Shop opening in August at the Polaris shop on la Torre (details of exact date to come), a number of excellent new students joining the school in September, new classrooms for the Secondary School already being provisioned and orders for next year flooding in, including significant deliveries of books for our new Library.  Although I am a little disappointed we had to call off the inter-school golf tournament, I am pleased to see so many other activities going on in the school.  I was lucky enough to accompany an outstanding trip, with three staff and 18 Secondary students, to the Sierra Nevada where we camped and trekked over the surrounding hillsides with real enthusiasm.  Last week the Early years and Key Stage 1 pupils evidently had a great time at Rio Elche Safari Park and we have a number of trips either happening as I write or to come shortly.  I do, however, stress that the most important thing to look forward to for all children is the examinations happening in a fortnight.

EXAMINATIONS FOR YEARS 2 TO 10

Exams must be a major focus for the next couple of weeks.  Staff will be sending out revision/information sheets for exams over the next week and homework will be dedicated to revising for the exams.  It is imperative that you encourage your children to undertake significant revision and help them by avoiding too many late nights/ parties!

SUMMER SCHOOL

A reminder that there are still plenty of places available for our Summer School in July.  Parents who were put off by last year´s experience can be assured that this year´s programme is first rate.  This is just one of the many areas you can see where we are trying to improve the school.  I am prepared to extend the discount that applied to all King´s College students that signed up before 30th April right up to 31st May.  If you are still interested or would like further information on the Summer School then please phone 968033319 between the hours of 10am and 1pm, or visit the link on our website at http://www.kcmurcia.es/en/summer-school/the-summer-school or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. POLICIES ON THE WEBSITE

A selection of policies can be found on the school website under the Academic header at http://www.kcmurcia.es/en/table/school-policies/ I have recently added policies on contact books/planners, marking and marking codes, presentation of work, homework and healthy eating.  This is of course just a small selection of our huge folder of policies, most of which apply to staff!  All these policies act as guidance for staff and other stakeholders, as well as bringing consistency to what we do; they should be viewed in the spirit of the law, rather than as absolutes!

SPEECH DAY AND PRIZE GIVING

Two weeks ago I sent out some information, together with a form for our celebration at the end of term involving Prize Giving and Speeches.  It is essential you reply to this even if you do not want to go to the meal.  I hope most can make the Prize Giving and Speech Day.  I understand the meal is expensive for many of our parents, but I did go for the cheapest option we were offered.  If we do not have enough parents taking up the meal, we will just cancel the lunch (parents who have already paid will be refunded)!  The original form can be found below.

BUSES

A reminder, once more, that parents must bring their children to the bus pick up places at the correct times.  Similarly, it is essential that parents are there waiting for the bus at drop off times.  Some parents have been a little slack in this regard recently and just one late parent/child puts all the timings out.
