Dear Parents,
We have had a busy week with an Open Day (the students who toured parents round were superb), the Year 10 Parents´ Evening, the DVD and the visits of both Stuart Johnson, the Head of ICT of King´s Group and Trevor Rowell, the Deputy chairman of COBIS amidst the usual business of a week at the school.
CHARITY
Thank you very much for your donations to charity over the past few weeks. I am glad to say that the Halloween Dress Up Day, coupled with the Race for Life MABS Cancer charity has seen us devote a total of 532 Euros to MABS and 70 Euros to the British Legion´s Poppy Appeal. This does not include the money raised by some of our students for the Race for Life. On that note I commend the following students for their great efforts: Caitlin Bennett, Rebecca Scott and Toby and Lottie Brown. I would also like to congratulate the readers, who recited poetry so well in our Remembrance Assembly last week, where we all enjoyed wearing our poppies: well done to Aimée Stanton, Chloe Woodhead, Kerrigan Coleman and Chris Miller.
YEAR 1 AND 2 TEACHERS
On Monday I will be collecting our new Year 2 teacher, Mr Jon Martin, from Alicante Airport. He will be with Mrs Pollock for a week, learning the classroom procedures, so ensuring a smooth transition. Parents of Year 2 Yellow are welcome to come and meet him with Mrs Pollock on Thursday 25th November at 4pm in the Year 2 Yellow Classroom.
Sarah Hynie, the teacher taking over from Mrs Nicola Morris, will be visiting for three days from 29th November, again to ensure a smooth transition when she arrives in January. All parents of the Year 1 Red class are welcome to meet Miss Sarah Hynie together with Mrs Morris on Tuesday 30th November at 4pm in the Year 1 Red Classroom.
DOGS IN SCHOOL
I would ask that all parents refrain from bringing their dogs into the school. I am sorry to have to do this, but we have had incidents with dogs over the past few weeks where early years children have slipped in dog´s urine and also with dogs defecating on site.
INTER-HOUSE
Due to the staff ICT training on Friday, we will not be able to have the Inter-House Basketball Final at 4pm on Friday afternoon. Instead, Secondary School children have been asked to tell their parents that they are welcome to come to watch the final last thing today.
MUSIC LESSONS
A reminder that if you want your son/daughter to have either keyboard or guitar lessons then you must return the form that came with last week´s letter to Mr Carlos Campos.
HEAD´S ABSENCE NEXT WEEK
Next week I will be away both on Monday and Friday/Saturday, with a visit first to our sister school in Alicante and secondly to Madrid for King´s Group meetings and training. In my absence Alan Boyes, the Head of Secondary, will be deputizing for me, but I will always be contactable by email.
The results of DVD will be available for your viewing in the near future, but in the meantime I wish you a fine weekend.
Best wishes
Robin Silk
