SPANISH IN EARLY YEARS AND PRIMARY:
In these years, the Spanish Department will deal with different skills: language acquisition and a proper use of the alphabet. The Spanish subject follows the Spanish National Curriculum. For those students who are not Spanish native speakers, we follow a Curriculum adaptation.
In Early Years, our pupils are prepared to acquire oral and listening skills, the priority being the study of phonemes, syllables, words and sound.
In Primary Education, our main goal focuses on acquiring a correct level of reading and writing, and also on achieving a basic knowledge of cultural and environmental issues in order to make the students aware of our natural environment, society and culture.
SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE, GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY IN SECONDARY:

From Year 6 onwards, our main objective is the correct comprehension and production of written and oral texts, as well as differentiating various situations in communication. Students must be able to enjoy reading and writing in an autonomous way, and to interpret and produce literary texts from a critical and creative point of view. Students will also be prepared to know the language mechanisms at all levels: syntactic, lexical, semantic and textual.
In Spanish as a Foreign Language, lessons are orientated to improve students’ competence in the Spanish Language in both academic and everyday environmental use.
In Geography and History, we follow a Curriculum Adaptation of the mainstream subject, in which students improve their vocabulary knowledge on these subjects, together with a general knowledge of the Spanish culture.
